Summary

We are seeking a dynamic Talent Program Manager to help us build a deep and diverse talent pool of forward-thinking Missourians and connect these folks with do-good jobs. We need a results-oriented project manager for our programmatic efforts to provide professional development and networking opportunities for civic staff throughout their careers. The successful candidate is a motivated people-person who will delight in connecting people, weaving community, and catalyzing culture shifts within the movement as we build progressive power. 

The position will work closely with the Director of Organizing and Strategic Initiatives (their supervisor) to execute a long-term organizing strategy and manage programs to leverage LeadMO’s unique position in the progressive ecosystem. This is a frontline role interacting with elected officials, organizers, program staff, institutional partners, and donors and will require a passion for organizing people and a willingness to innovate and learn from setbacks. LeadMO does not presently have brick and mortar offices and this position will work from home/remotely, but access to coworking space may be possible. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Organizing and Strategic Initiatives in operating LeadMO and LeadMO Action’s talent programming,including: the Staff Cohort program, HiredUpMissouri.org and other matching efforts, and civic engagement programs.    
  • Facilitate weekly talent matching calls, manage the canvasser hub, and coordinate jobs fairs with key partners to fill priority roles, providing technical assistance as needed. 
  • Provide planning and logistical support for the Staff Cohort program, from applicant recruitment to post-graduation services. 
  • Help team members assess equity and inclusion (EI) indicators and barriers to employment/employee retention in Missouri’s progressive movement, and assist to develop and implement solutions.   
  • Maintain records and databases for programming. 
  • Use WordPress to maintain the HiredUp Missouri, LeadMO, and LeadMO Action websites. 
  • Manage external communications (program marketing, email listserv, social media presence) to promote programs and agency goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with employers. 
  • Assist team members with fund development activities to support your projects and the agency as a whole, including grant reporting, events, and other activities.

Requirements

Requirements include:

  • Strong belief in the values, principles, and ideals of LeadMO, including our commitment to equity and inclusion. 
  • Living in Missouri or willingness to relocate immediately. 
  • At least one campaign cycle/two years of experience in nonprofit programming, political or community organizing, campaigns, or similar work. 
  • Political savvy and the ability to exercise good judgment.
  • A willingness to tackle problems and embrace projects as part of a small, committed team.
  • Strong written and verbal skills with an understanding of complex political landscapes and a keen sense of communicating needs and opportunities.
  • Well organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage time effectively by meeting deadlines, efficiently using resources, and achieving measurable goals resulting in quality outcomes. 
  • Comfortable working with people from all backgrounds regardless of race, sexual orientation, class, faith, or geography.
  • An ‘organizer’ mindset, including: an urgent desire to change things for the better, deep curiosity about -and empathy for other people, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to partner with others to build power and achieve shared goals.  
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel. This position will require regular travel throughout Missouri and occasional travel outside the state. 

Desirable Qualities:

  • Experience in the state of Missouri.
  • Work history in a small nonprofit agency.
  • Familiarity with Excel, NGP Every Action, Voter Action Network, Canva, WordPress, and Pantheon.
  • Experience in local or state legislative political environment including time communicating directly with voters and working with candidates.

Compensation:

  • The starting salary range for this position is $55,000 – $60,000.
