About this Role

In 2026,  the Republican supermajority has put forward multiple ballot initiatives that would infringe on the power and freedom of Missourians. As we ramp up towards these fights, the campaign seeks to hire and develop Regional Leads across Missouri with specific interest in hiring leads in the St. Louis (both City and County), Springfield, and Kansas City regions. These leads will stand up regional offices and train teams of leaders and volunteers in order to engage voters and secure commitments to stop harmful ballot initiatives in Missouri.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this Role

Regional Leads will be responsible for making sure voter contact goals are met by recruiting, developing, and leading a team (or teams) to recruit volunteers for the campaign and fill key voter engagement support roles in their region. Regional Leads will receive support and coaching from the Statewide Field and Data Manager and work closely with them to execute their regional program. 

The following list attempts to cover a range of responsibilities candidates can expect to have in this role:

    • Volunteer Recruitment/Coordination:
      • Make regular recruitment phone calls to volunteers on a daily basis, and develop a team of volunteers to help with ongoing recruitment calls.
      • Confirm volunteers who have signed up for actions before their scheduled shifts.
      • Follow-up with volunteers after shifts to build relationships
      • Surface potential leaders and proposition them to fill lead roles in the campaign 
      • Manage email communication and updates to their volunteers
      • Canvass as needed to support volunteers and meet weekly goals
      • Work with Statewide Field Manager to plan and implement recruitment for all support roles needed
    • Organize and Facilitate Regional Voter Contact:
      • Plan and execute a regional launch  in collaboration with the Statewide Field Manager.
      • Manage multiple canvasses a week to train leaders and volunteers on effective scripts, the use of VAN, MiniVAN, best practices for doors and data, and other training as needed.
      • Train and support all event leads, trainers, and coaches and support shift recruitment training
        • This includes training run-throughs, shadowing, and coaching
    • Ensure Regional Program meets program expectations
      • Track, assess, and troubleshoot program in real time to meet quality program expectations
  • Participate in regular calls with the Statewide Field Manager to update regional progress/gaps, lay out recruitment & onboarding processes for roles & shifts, and secure commitments to fill gaps. 
    • Manage regional reporting and facilitate & participate in ongoing check-ins & debriefs with your leaders / support team and the Statewide Field Manager to learn and evaluate your program.
    • Establish a feedback loop between yourself, your leaders, and volunteers through regular debriefs & follow-up.
    • Be present and available in the campaign office throughout the program during designated campaign hours.
    • Be flexible and prepared for campaign pivots that could impact daily responsibilities.

Role Requirements

Regional Leads will need to possess some level of basic organizing skills in order to step into this role effectively. We recognize that not everyone who may want to apply will have all of these baseline skills. We encourage anyone who is committed to their own organizer development and who has a hunger for voter engagement to apply. Below is a list of requirements we believe will be needed in order for candidates to be effective in this role:

  • Live in Missouri
  • Possess a level of political acumen that will allow for fast pivots in regards to engaging volunteers and changing dynamics of the campaign over time
  • Strong opposition to the authoritarian efforts of the Missouri Governor and Legislature. 
  • Previous experience contacting voters for a candidate or issue campaign through canvassing, signature collection, or phone banks
  • Ability to coach and train volunteers towards success on detail-oriented projects
  • A dedication to building lasting power for the progressive movement in Missouri
  • A hunger for ongoing voter engagement and mobilization
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to clearly communicate specific information
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • A basic understanding of Google Suite document tools
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends
  • Up-to-date driver’s license and insurance

Role Preferences:

The best candidates for this position will have the following experience and skills: 

  • Has led a signature gathering event, canvass,  phone bank, or other political action, and/or has filled a leadership role in some capacity – leading debriefs,  training or coaching volunteers, cutting turf, etc.
  • Volunteer recruitment and/or management experience
  • Experience working within a non-profit organization 
  • Experience managing a coalition of actors towards a common goal
  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and ability to take initiative in the development and completion of projects

Timeline and Salary

The role of Regional Leads is a temporary position with no option to become permanent. We expect that Regional Leads will need to be available for this role starting Mid-May 2026  until November 30, 2026. 

Salary: $7,000/month

Work Schedule / Location

    • Schedule: This role will be expected to work evenings and weekends. To maximize voter contact, during most weeks, Regional Leads will likely work 3-4 evenings a week and both weekend days. 
      • During most of the campaign, Regional Leads will have 2 days off per week negotiated with a manager. 
      • During the most intense weeks of campaigning, this number of days off may decrease to 0-1.
      • The Regional Lead will not work more than 12 days without a day off.
  • Location: The Regional Lead will be expected to work in-person in the Regional Field Office. Some hours may be worked remotely.
  • Travel: Some in-state travel may be required

How Regional Leads will be Supported

  • Receive weekly coaching in 1-1s with the Statewide Field and Data Manager around progress to outcomes and what skills/troubleshooting/support is needed.
  • Collaboration with other leads from across the state to discuss best practices and learnings as a cohort.
  • Receive 2-days of intensive onboarding as well as ongoing training with Statewide Field and Data Manager to develop skills & leadership.
