LeadMO Action is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit cultivating a diverse and inclusive community of civic and political leaders devoted to building a Missouri centered on equitable progress. LeadMO Action fuels progress by recruiting and equipping diverse residents with the skills and networks they need to effectively engage in the political process.
About the Role
We are seeking a Recruitment Organizer through May 2026 to help us build a deep and diverse talent pool of forward-thinking Missourians. This position is announced as part–time, however we are actively pursuing funding to support a full time role. We need a results-oriented project manager for our programmatic efforts, with an emphasis on talent identification and recruitment. The successful candidate is a motivated people-person who will delight in convening and supporting value-aligned partners and stakeholders to identify civic talent, and connecting talent with opportunities and resources to help them lead.
The Recruitment Organizer will work closely with the Director of Talent Programs (their supervisor) to identify and recruit talent, including convening and supporting a recruitment table. This is a frontline role interacting with elected officials, institutional partners and staff, and donors. It requires a passion for organizing people and a willingness to innovate and learn from setbacks. LeadMO does not presently have brick and mortar offices and this position will work from home/remotely, but access to coworking space may be possible.
Responsibilities
Primary
- Provide planning and logistical support to the Director of Talent Programs for the Staff Cohort program, including but not limited to applicant recruitment.
- Plan, convene and facilitate regular meetings of LeadMO Action’s recruitment table, engaging partners and stakeholders in order to fill priority roles across Missouri, providing technical assistance as needed.
- Build/maintain strong relationships with diverse stakeholders and partners.
- Maintain and utilize talent pipeline data and databases, collaborating with national partners as needed.
- Help team members assess equity and inclusion (EI) indicators and barriers to recruitment, employment, and employee retention in Missouri’s progressive movement, and assist to develop/implement solutions.
Secondary
- Assist the Director of Talent Programs in operating LeadMO and LeadMO Action’s other talent programming, including HiredUpMissouri.org and other matching efforts, and talent training and civic engagement programs.
- Support external communications (program marketing, email listserv, social media presence) to promote programs and agency goals.
- Assist team members with fund development activities to support your projects and the agency as a whole, including grant reporting, events, and other activities.
Requirements
Core Requirements
- Strong belief in the values, principles, and ideals of LeadMO, including our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
- Living in Missouri or willing to relocate immediately.
- At least one campaign cycle/two years of experience in nonprofit programming, political or community organizing, campaigns, or similar work.
- Political savvy and the ability to exercise good judgment.
- Willingness to tackle problems and embrace projects as part of a small, committed team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an understanding of complex political landscapes.
- Well organized, with a demonstrated ability to manage time effectively by meeting deadlines, efficiently using resources, and achieving measurable goals resulting in quality outcomes.
- Comfortable working with people from all backgrounds regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or identity, education or disability.
- An ‘organizer’ mindset, including: an urgent desire to change things for the better, deep curiosity about and empathy for other people, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to partner with others to build power and achieve shared goals.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel. This position will require regular travel throughout the state of Missouri and may require occasional travel outside the state.
Desirable
- Experience in the state of Missouri.
- Work history in a small nonprofit agency.
- Familiarity with Excel, NGP Every Action, Voter Action Network, Canva, WordPress, and Pantheon.
- Experience in local or state legislative political environment including time communicating directly with voters and working with candidates.

- The starting pay range for this position is $25/hour, averaging 25 hours/week.
