About this Role:

In 2026,  the Republican supermajority has put forward multiple ballot initiatives that would infringe on the power and freedom of Missourians. As we ramp up towards these fights, the campaign seeks to hire and develop a Statewide Data Lead who will facilitate data management and tracking processes in support of Regional Leads across Missouri.

Responsibilities of this Role

The Statewide Data Lead will be responsible for ensuring voter and volunteer data is effectively captured, tracked, and responded to by Regional Leads. The Statewide Data Lead will receive support and coaching from both the Statewide Field Manager and Civic Engagement Data Director and work closely with them to implement and manage strong systems. 

Responsibilities

The following list attempts to cover a range of responsibilities candidates can expect to have in this role:

  • Manage voter file and digital organizing tools: Support member organizations in their usage of voter file and digital organizing tools.  This may include:
    • Managing and supporting the field team’s use of digital tools, including but not limited to: GetThru, EveryAction, Mobilize, OpenVPB, and other contact tools that include building and loading targeted VAN lists as appropriate
    • Cutting turf for volunteer canvasses
    • Tracking voter contact and producing reports as needed
    • Create data structures within tools (Activist codes, Tags, Survey Questions, Source Codes, etc.)
  • Data Management and Analysis: Ensure clean and reliable data is consistently delivered to member organizations.  This may include:
    • Routinely cleaning data
    • Entering handwritten data into CRMs
    • Creating and documenting data management procedures and ensuring that staff and member leaders are following procedures and best practices
    • Maintaining activist codes, survey questions, and other tags
    • Managing, processing, and updating bulk data
    • Collaborating on analyses for electoral work
  • Field Team Support
    • Present weekly data updates to the Field Team to support their analysis of progress and planning
    • Troubleshoot data access and analysis issues with Regional Leads as needed
    • Support Regional Leads in regular reporting and program evaluation.
    • Participate in ongoing check-ins & debriefs with the Field Team.
    • Support in-person events with event check-in, data collection, and tracking
    • Process and enter data on time to ensure prompt follow-up for organizers
    • Be present as needed in regional campaign offices during designated campaign hours.
    • Be flexible and prepared for campaign pivots that could impact daily responsibilities

These are the types of skills, commitments, competencies, and qualities that we’d be looking for in our Data Lead. We offer these as a broad outline; it is not necessary that applicants have experience in all skills and competencies: 

  • An attention to detail and timelines; an ability to execute complicated sequential steps with rigor and precision, often on a tight deadline.  
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to clearly communicate (with patience and humility) data-related information to audiences who may not have much data background, both in 1:1 and training scenarios.
  • Strong opposition to the authoritarian efforts of the Missouri Governor and Legislature. 
  • Experience in the use of data in candidate or issue-based campaigns.
  • Familiarity with online electoral / advocacy tools and constituent relationship management (CRM) tools such as EveryAction and NGP. 
  • Experience with spreadsheets and data manipulation. 
  • Experience participating in a volunteer or staff capacity on an electoral campaign or a local issue campaign.
  • Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends

Timeline and Salary

The role of the Statewide Data Lead is a temporary position with no option to become permanent. We expect that the Statewide Data Lead will need to be available for this role starting Mid-May 2026  until November 30, 2026. 

Salary: $7,000/month

Work Schedule / Location

    • Schedule: The schedule for this role will align with the Statewide Field Team. To maximize voter contact, during most weeks, the Statewide Data Lead will likely work 3-4 evenings a week and both weekend days. 
      • During most of the campaign, the Statewide Data Lead will have 2 days off per week negotiated with a manager. 
      • During the most intense weeks of campaigning, this number of days off may decrease to 0-1.
      • The Statewide Data Lead will not work more than 12 days without a day off.
  • Location: The Statewide Data Lead will be expected to work some hours in-person in a Regional Field Office. Some hours may be worked remotely.
  • Travel: Some in-state travel may be required

How the Statewide Data Lead will be Supported

  • Receive weekly coaching in 1-1s with the Statewide Field Manager around progress to outcomes and what skills/troubleshooting/support is needed.
  • Collaboration with Regional Leads from across the state to discuss best practices and learnings as a cohort.
  • Receive 2-days of intensive onboarding as well as ongoing training with Statewide Field Manager to develop skills & leadership.
  • Receive initial training and ongoing support as needed in data system management from the Civic Engagement Data Director
