Salary: Range of $90,000 – $115,000 per year.

Who We Are 

LeadMO (501 c3) and LeadMO Action (501 c4) are early-stage non-profits focused on  uncovering, training, supporting and connecting the talent needed to power Missouri’s  progressive infrastructure as well as pushing value-aligned Missourians to engage in the civic process. Since its founding in late 2019, the organization has focused on bringing  talented individuals into the progressive ecosystem from diverse backgrounds and giving  them the tools and connections to succeed and advance. We are a behind-the-scenes  organization that provides a multiplier effect for progressive change by coordinating a  cohesive, movement-wide strategy for talent and workforce development.

What We Do 

LeadMO (c3) is focused on supporting the broad range of civic-forward organizations and campaigns that work to move Missouri forward. We do this through our platform HiredUpMissouri.org as well as our specialized talent acquisition and support services. We collect data on elected officials through our Pipeline Database and connect civic-forward officials with the organizations that hold value aligned expertise. We host trainings, internally and through partners, to support job seekers as well as the organizations looking to expand the skill sets of their members, staff and volunteers. 

LeadMO Action (c4) is focused on finding, training and supporting the diverse and talented staff needed to run statewide campaigns in the electoral and advocacy spaces. We run three in-depth campaign manager academies each two-year cycle that help bring online more individuals with the drive and skills to run and win strategic campaigns. We support first time candidates through our Pipeline recruitment as well as specialized trainings to help diverse candidates from all backgrounds understand what it takes to run and win, especially at the non-partisan, down-ballot level. 


Fundraising & Partner Relationships (30%) 

  • Continue to build a strong network of foundations, organizational partners and individual funders to meet the organization’s target budget (approximately $500,000) 
  • Retain and increase the ongoing support and political engagement of our major donors through events, communications, and individual conversations
  • In coordination with staff and board members, develop inspiring materials and presentations to communicate and grow donor networks and external partners
  • Fundraise for special projects as they arise, or as new opportunities present  themselves. 
  • Maintain strong relationships with foundation partners and aggressively pursue out of-state funding for essential programs
  • Represent LeadMO at national and state coalition tables, conferences and venues.
  • Meet with allies, elected officials, grantees and other funder and partners to ensure a cohesive strategy to attain political wins 

Program Development and Management (30%) 

  • Manage and run campaign staff cohort as well as develop additional trainings, in coordination with progressive partners, in key areas of need. 
  • Develop scouts to create a network of connected individuals to help find talent and raise up civic leaders 
  • Develop a multi-year strategic plan for all staff and programs to ensure the  organization is delivering on essential tasks while providing a long term vision for the board and donors 
  • Ensure we are making an impact to build a robust talent pool and network for potential staff and candidates across the state through in-depth and current  knowledge of the state of progressive infrastructure in Missouri, regional and national trends, and best practices from other organizations and states 
  • Continue to develop and integrate our databases, CRM and voter file to ensure the long-term security and effectiveness of our data flows 
  • Apply rigorous criteria to our impact deliverables including working from shared geographic and demographic recruitment goals and applying qualitative and  quantitative analysis and measurement of outcomes

Staff Support & Management (20%) 

  • Support and develop the team, currently 3 additional members, to deliver programs and meet the needs of Missouri’s progressive landscape 
  • Monitor staff progress to reach target metrics from multi-year strategic planning
  • Catalog and develop staff from campaigns and partner organizations by pipelining them into new opportunities and oversee the talent “chess board” looking ahead multiple years 

Organizational & Budget Management (20%) 

  • Ensure the organization is running inline with best financial practices in coordination with board and accounting team
  • Work with the legal team and board to ensure that organizational filings are up-to date.
  • Keep detailed records of spending and create budget projections 
  • Optimize board engagement – maintain regular communication with the board for  input and guidance outside of set meetings
  • Monitor and pivot organizational resources to deliver on program goals in the face of a changing political landscape



  • Minimum 6-8 years of relevant work experience 
  • 4 years in a management role including staff supervision, fundraising, finance, board  oversight and operations in a campaign or nonprofit environment 
  • Deep understanding of social and political movements backed by direct expertise in grassroots organizing and electoral efforts 
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of the organization 
  • Experience with and a passion for fundraising 
  • Excellent communicator in person and in written communications, able to tailor messages to multiple and diverse audiences 
  • Experience and cultural proficiency working with diverse communities and  geographies 
  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment and build strong, trusting  relationships 
  • Experience and success training and mentoring staff 
  • Creative problem solver with a dynamic view of political systems change

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience designing leadership curriculum and engagement ladders for entry level and mid-level organizers 
  • Experience managing candidates and/or public interest campaigns
