Job Description:

  • Manages communications, digital, finance, voter protection, county affairs, compliance, data, field, organizing and canvassing volunteers;

  • Implements strategy and processes of the Chair and leadership of the Party effectively and expediently;

  • Maintains the web site and promotes Democratic messaging through social media and newsletter;

  • Maintains close working relationships with various partners including, but not limited to — DNC, MDP, HDCC, SDCC, coordinated campaign, and clubs, as well as other state and local partners as allowed by law;

  • Builds and nurtures relationships with local and state elected officials and party officials;

  • Serves as a spokesperson as appropriate;

  • Keeps an updated and working knowledge of campaign finance, election, and compliance laws to remain compliant;

  • Builds budgets and tracks income and expenditure for the SLCDCC;

  • Coordinates with political campaigns in support of their political and campaign strategy;

  • Partners with the SLCDCC Chair and Treasurer to build robust fundraising and to cultivate large and small dollar donors. This includes, but is not limited to, call time, periodic donations, pledges, and sponsorships.

  • Coordinates with committees of the SLCDCC to support their mission and goals, such as Voter Outreach and Registration, Community and Service, Outreach and Activism. Candidate Recruitment and Training.


  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable mode of transportation, and the ability to travel throughout the county;

  • Office hours are flexible to be negotiated with the SLCDCC Chair and may include holidays and weekends, especially during campaigns;

Salary & Benefits:  

The salary and benefits for this position are competitive and commensurate with experience.


The primary responsibility is to oversee all programs of the St. Louis County Democratic Party. This includes establishing and maintaining a physical office, leading the party through special elections, general elections, and coordinated campaigns, managing the financial health in both the short and long term and supporting execution of events and committee meetings. The Executive Director is responsible for well-managed party programs that build the Party at the grassroots level, strengthen its infrastructure, and effectively execute the vision of the Chair. The Executive Director must be committed to the SLCDP’s values and the state party platform. The Executive Director reports to the County Party Chair with policy direction and guidance from the St. Louis County Democratic Central Committee (SLCDCC).


Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 4 years direct campaign experience – executive experience working on a coordinated campaign, statewide, or congressional political campaign or a state political party preferred;

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously under strict deadlines;

  • Detail-oriented with exceptional record-keeping and organizational skills;

  • Responsive and positive team leader who thrives from versatility and constant new challenges;

  • Exceptional people skills and patience;

  • Excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills;

  • An unwavering commitment to accuracy and results;

  • Effective computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, Voter Activation Network (VAN), Google Docs; financial management software;

  • Bachelor’s degree; and

  • An unwavering commitment to Democratic values.
