Community Educator Staff, Smoke Free St. Louis

Job Description:

Assist the Smoke Free St. Louis Campaign goals of creating smoke-free environments for the community. The Community Educator will assist in volunteer education and recruitment, community engagement, and communications efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend coalition meetings and community events.

  • Educate community members on smoke-free policy/ies.

  • Grassroots and coalition building.

  • Communication strategies to include social media, coalition outreach, and email.

  • Research community events, volunteer opportunities, and other topics, as assigned by Campaign

    Coordinator.

  • Assist at events to set up displays, manage registration or information gathering table, and other

    community engagement opportunities.

  • Direct volunteer activities.

  • Conduct public health advocacy events.

  • Maintain coalition calendar of events and engagement opportunities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Superior writing, editing, and research skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Able to adapt to changing priorities and tight timelines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, online research tools, and Google drive.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written communication skills, and experience working with community stakeholders on

    the phone or in person.

  • Able to use discretion when exposed to confidential aspects of the campaign.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must be able to learn and follow all guidelines and policies provided by Smoke Free St. Louis Coalition.

Job Details:

  • Hourly position

  • Hourly wage range: $18.00 to $21.00

  • 15-20 hours/week

  • One year position

  • Home-office based

  • Monday-Friday (9 am-5 pm) with some evening or weekend work and travel, as schedule allows
